Stay safe, online and offline

We built PrideConnect with privacy and consent at its core, but your instincts matter most. Here's how to protect yourself and what we do behind the scenes.

In immediate danger?

Call your local emergency number first. In the EU that's 112; in the US and Canada 911; in Brazil 190.

Report on PrideConnect

01Before you meet

  • Chat in the app for a while — video call if you can, and trust your gut if something feels off.
  • Check for the verified badge, and be careful with profiles that have no photos or ask to move off the app fast.
  • Tell a friend who you're meeting, where and when. Share your plans and check in afterwards.
  • Never send money, gift cards or crypto to someone you haven't met.

02When you meet

  • Meet in a busy public place for the first time — a café, bar or a PrideConnect hangout.
  • Arrange your own transport and keep your phone charged.
  • Stay in control of your drinks and your belongings.
  • It's okay to leave at any time. You don't owe anyone an explanation.

03Protect your privacy

  • Your exact location is never shared — distances are rounded. You can also hide your distance or set your area manually.
  • Turn on Ghost mode to browse without appearing on radars.
  • Keep identifying details (workplace, surname, home street) out of your profile and first chats.
  • Plus members can use the Exclusive Circle to be visible only to other Plus members.

04How verification works

Members can verify their profile by taking a selfie in a random pose. A person on our moderation team compares it with the profile photos and approves or rejects it. Verification selfies are private and deleted within 30 days of the decision.

A verified badge means the person matches their photos — it's not a background check, so keep following these tips.

05Blocking and reporting

Use the ⋯ menu on any profile, post, comment, message or hangout to report or block. Reports are anonymous: the person won't know it was you.

Our moderators review every report. Reports about minors, threats and violence are handled first. We may remove content, suspend or ban accounts, and we'll let you know once your report has been reviewed.

Block

You disappear for each other everywhere: radar, feed, hangouts and messages.

Report

Alerts our team. Adding details helps them act quickly.

06Travelling safely

Laws and attitudes towards LGBTQ+ people vary around the world. Before travelling, check the local situation, be extra careful about sharing personal details and consider keeping your profile discreet. In some regions PrideConnect is not available to protect our members.

07Support and resources

If you've experienced harassment, violence or discrimination, you're not alone. Local LGBTQ+ centres and associations can offer confidential support, legal information and counselling.

Our team is also here for you at support@prideconnect.app.
